NAILSWORTH, ENGLAND - JANUARY 17, 2020: Forest Green Rovers sign at The New Lawn in Nailsworth, England

Forest Green Rovers, long celebrated as the “world’s greenest soccer club,” has just unveiled a game-changing new kit—and it’s officially vegan. According to Forest Green Rovers and Reflo, the team’s new strip for the 2025/26 season is the first to be certified by The Vegan Society, making it the world’s first fully vegan soccer kit.

Created in collaboration with sustainable activewear brand Reflo, the kit includes both home and away versions featuring a bold leopard print design inspired by nature. But it’s not just the print making headlines. The fabric is made entirely from recycled monofibre materials, thanks to Reflo’s innovative “Reloop” technology. This means the shirts can be recycled again at the end of their life, supporting a circular economy and helping to combat the mountain of textile waste generated by the sports industry each year.

Forest Green Rovers have also committed to wearing the home strip for two seasons to reduce consumption and avoid pushing fans to buy new kits annually—a smart, sustainable move that also supports affordability.

The club’s chairman Dale Vince explained that even the smallest details—like plant-based dyes—were part of the certification process. Past kits have experimented with bamboo and even coffee grounds, but this one sets a new precedent in sustainability. As Vince put it, “The materials we use to make things really matters.”

Reflo co-founder Rory MacFadyen called the collaboration a “milestone moment” and a perfect match for Reflo’s mission to challenge the limits of sustainable performancewear.

This is a win not just for fans of the beautiful game, but for animals and the planet too. Let’s cheer on more teams to ditch plastic-heavy, wasteful kits and follow Forest Green’s lead. Support vegan-friendly, circular fashion in sport—because sustainability isn’t just for the sidelines.
