Cats afraid of declawing Trimming, cat's nail.

Declawing is not just a “simple procedure” — it’s a painful, invasive amputation that cuts through bone, comparable to severing each of a human’s fingers at the last knuckle. Yet, this outdated and brutal surgery remains legal in most U.S. states. Only Rhode Island, New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Virginia have taken the humane step of banning it.

Declawed cats can suffer lifelong pain, nerve damage, mobility issues, and psychological distress. Many develop behavioural problems like aggression or refusing to use the litter box — often leading to abandonment or euthanasia. With widely available alternatives like scratching posts, nail trims, and behaviour training, there’s simply no excuse for this cruelty.

Sign the petition now to help end unnecessary suffering and push the rest of the U.S. to join the growing list of compassionate states. Our feline friends deserve better.
