After months of running with a pack of coyotes in the rural Nevada desert, a dog named Ghost is back with humans and will soon be up for adoption.

Residents around Henderson, Nevada, near Las Vegas, had seen the pup named Ghost running with wild animals and began to post sightings of the dog on social media.
“It seems like he may have been put out there between seven and eight months, and somehow or another, the coyotes just accepted him,” Susan McMullen of the Southern Nevada Trapping Team told Fox 5 Vegas.
However, neighbors began to see the dog running with a limp, and they became fearful for the pup, the news station reported. Neighbors tried to approach the dog but it was hard to capture him and he seemingly would disappear, which is how he got his name, Ghost.
The Southern Nevada Trapping Team stepped in to help and was able to lure Ghost into a crate with food. They found that the poor dog had eaten rocks in the wild because he was so hungry. Authorities said they believe Ghost was dumped in the desert as a puppy and the Coyotes took him in as one of their own. Although he had pack ties, Fox 5 reported that Ghost appeared to be happy to be captured.
The poor pup has numerous injuries including a broken toe that will need to be amputated. A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for Ghost’s medical expenses. Once he is recovered, Ghost, who is described as the sweetest and most loving dog, will be available for adoption.
