Two Conservation organizations have filed a lawsuit against Henrico County for allegedly allowing raw sewage to enter the James River.

The Conservation groups have alleged that the county allowed tens of millions of gallons of raw sewage to seep into the James River. This has been done over the past 5 years and is causing widespread Pollution.

The lawsuit claims that the company has violated the Clean Water Act, putting public health as well as local wildlife and marine life at risk.

The groups also alleged that this is no news to Henrico County as they have been polluting for almost 30 years, as well as releasing millions and millions of gallons of sewage into the river since 2016. In so doing, the county has created a serious health hazard that is probably already affecting the nearby communities.

Raw sewage is allowed to be released under certain circumstances each year in certain quantities. However, it must be done only under certain situations so as to not create a public health hazard. If this lawsuit is accurate, Henrico County has violated all of these rules and created a serious health concern for local people and wildlife.
