Arnold Schwarzenegger is reminding the world that the climate crisis doesn’t disappear just because one politician calls it fake. This week, the former California governor and long-time environmental advocate pushed back against Donald Trump’s latest claim that Climate change is a “con job.”

Speaking to CNN after Trump’s comments at the United Nations General Assembly, Schwarzenegger dismissed the idea that America’s climate leadership hinges on a single president’s opinion. “It’s nonsense,” he said, adding that “we have to do something about reducing Pollution” regardless of political spin. According to The Independent, Schwarzenegger was clear: Trump’s denial shouldn’t stop anyone from acting to protect the Earth.

Trump had claimed that decades of warnings from scientists and the UN were “wrong” and that Global warming was a hoax believed by “stupid people.” But the science says otherwise. Last year was the hottest in recorded history, with wildfires, flooding, and storms growing more extreme across the country. A peer-reviewed study linked Climate change to worsening droughts and fire risks in California alone.

Schwarzenegger isn’t alone in rejecting this denialism. Many U.S. states, cities, and citizens continue to push forward with climate action — from clean energy laws to growing Support for plant-based diets to reduce emissions and improve health.

With Pollution contributing to an estimated 7 million deaths globally each year, ignoring the climate crisis isn’t just misguided — it’s dangerous. Schwarzenegger’s message is a powerful reminder that individual and local action still matter. Just because Washington wavers doesn’t mean the rest of us should stand still.
