Less than 10% of plastic objects get recycled, which is alarming because plastic takes hundreds of years to decompose. Even then, plastic only becomes microplastic, which is detrimental to people, animals, and the planet. Over 100 million marine animals die each year from plastic waste alone.

Tiny Rescue is a conscious lifestyle brand raising public awareness around important issues through sustainable products that are kind to the planet. If you haven’t heard about Tiny Rescue yet, it’s time you do! One Green Planet is proud to collaborate on a T-shirt design and participate with Tiny Rescue in the climate collection. The Tiny Rescue x One Green Planet t-shirt and sweatshirt are completely zero-waste and made from recycled fibers to make this planet a greener place. When you are done with it, just send it back to Tiny Rescue, and it will be reprocessed and respun to create a new product!

We did this collab to raise awareness about the dangers of Climate change. Join Tiny Rescue x One Green Planet and wear your cause by buying one of these t-shirts!

Here are 6 ways that animals are affected by Climate change, and if you look at the design closely, you will see we have featured some of the most impacted animals.

Available in a casual fit sweatshirt and t-shirt and a slim fit sweatshirt and t-shirt!

1. Habitat Loss

There is no doubt that human activities have – all too often – had a catastrophic effect on the Earth’s ecosystems. From the millions of tons of plastic that end up in the oceans yearly to the fact that our greenhouse gas emissions are skyrocketing, human activity has led our planet to large-scale habitat loss.

These t-shirts are carbon neutral and made from recycled materials. They’re also made in renewable energy-powered supply chains, shipped in sustainable packaging, and created on demand!

2. Extinction

The earth is losing animals at a rate not seen since the extinction of the dinosaurs: literally, dozens of species of plants and animals are going extinct every day. Yet unlike the asteroid impacts and volcanoes that killed off the dinosaurs, experts warn that 99% of currently threatened species are at risk from human activities — especially the effects of climate change.

Slowing down the rate of Global warming can be a small step for one of us but a big step when we do it together. All of Tiny Rescue’s products are circular because once you’re done with your product, simply send it back to be recycled and turned into something new!

3. Plastic Pollution

Only around 12% of all plastic objects get recycled, which is especially worrisome because plastic takes hundreds of years to decompose. Even then, plastic only becomes microplastic, which is still harmful to people, animals, and the environment. So many animals have to suffer because humans produce an excessive amount of plastic waste. Our addiction to plastic is destroying ecosystems and poisoning animals all over the world.

All t-shirts are made from 50% post-consumer organic cotton / 50% organic cotton and printed in a renewable energy-powered factory, and are completely plastic-free!

4. Wildfires

Fires have been blazing across both Northern and Southern California. And it’s because of Climate change. Climate change has increased the length of the fire season, making it more harmful and dangerous for animals and their habitats. Wildfires are dangerous for animals in any circumstance, but since firestorms create their own wind patterns and rapidly whip across vast stretches of undeveloped land in all directions, the unpredictability gives native wildlife little chance to escape.

5. Ice Loss

Global warming is caused largely due to the burning of fossil fuels, which has a significant impact on the planet. The poles, in particular, are warming faster than the rest of the world. In these frozen regions, the warming is melting ice at extensive rates. Because Arctic animals rely on the ice for all of their necessities, this ice decline has serious repercussions for the polar bear species.

6. Deforestation

Forests provide a home to millions of diverse animal ecosystems. They offer a home to some of the world’s most iconic wild animals, from the jaguar to the panda, along with countless diverse species of vegetation. Deforestation threatens our environment, impacts human lives, and kills millions of animals yearly.

“We are proud to say these tees are made of waste materials!” says Preeta Sinha, Founder of One Green Planet.

7. Rising Temperatures

It’s no secret that rising temperatures are having catastrophic effects on the environment. But warming temperatures are just as devastating for animals and their habitats. According to the NOAA’s 2021 Annual Climate Report, the combined land and ocean temperature has “increased at an average rate of 0.14 degrees Fahrenheit ( 0.08 degrees Celsius) per decade since 1880.” As a result, 41,415 species are on the IUCN Red List of threatened species, and 16,306 of these animals are threatened with extinction. We’re lucky to live on this magnificent planet with its incredible biodiversity. We must speak out, louder than ever and be a voice for animals.

8. Human-wildlife conflict

As rising temperatures take their toll on the environment, animals are forced to abandon their homes and roam elsewhere in search of new places to find shelter, food, and water. For example, as the ice melts, polar bears and other arctic animals are forced to move closer to human civilization. Thousands of other species have already faced this reality. Sadly, this human-wildlife conflict that is occurring has a devastating impact on animals, and many are at risk of being trapped, poached, caught in the crossfire of deforestation, and becoming victims of the illegal wildlife trade. The conflict between humans and wildlife is of growing concern. Animals and their natural habitats have a right to be protected.
