Loneliness is rising fast, and it is no longer just a personal issue. The World Health Organization has warned that social isolation is a public health concern linked to heart disease, stroke, and other serious illnesses. While some companies push workers toward AI tools instead of human connection, one Swedish employer is taking a better path. A major pharmacy chain has launched a year long “friendcare” trial that treats social connection as part of health.

The company, Apotek Hjärtat, gives staff one paid hour a month to socialize with friends, or 15 paid minutes each week. Workers also receive around 100 USD to help cover social activities, plus training on addressing loneliness. This model shows care for people, animals, and the wider environment by valuing human wellbeing over profit alone.

Big global corporations can afford this. They choose not to. Sign the petition now to demand better. Sign the petition now and push multinational companies to act. Sign the petition now for healthier, more humane workplaces.
