In recent weeks, federal agents have allegedly escalated their crackdowns, targeting not only civilians but also elected officials. ICE agents reportedly detained a staffer from Rep. Jarrold Nadler’s office after she correctly insisted they needed a warrant. Soon after, Senator Alex Padilla was handcuffed by federal agents simply for asking questions at a Homeland Security press event. Meanwhile, Rep. LaMonica McIver was indicted over a peaceful protest. Even New York City comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander was allegedly arrested without cause. These are U.S. citizens, exercising their constitutional rights.

Congress is a co-equal branch of government, yet these arrests undermine democracy and due process. Peaceful dissent is not a crime, and elected representatives must be free to hold the executive branch accountable. We cannot stay silent while federal agencies overstep their power. Sign the petition now to demand an immediate investigation and an end to these unconstitutional escalations.
