Kingston, Jamaica - October 30, 2025: Aftermath of Hurricane Melissa in the Heart of Kingston

One of the strongest hurricanes in nearly two centuries just tore through Jamaica. Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm, allegedly intensified due to rapidly warming ocean waters driven by Climate change. The result: homes flattened, trees uprooted, and more than 530,000 people left without power. At least 15,000 Jamaicans are displaced and four lives lost, while neighboring Haiti, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic also face widespread destruction.

Experts warn that storms like Melissa will only get stronger as the planet heats. Caribbean nations—among the least responsible for global emissions—are now demanding debt relief and financial aid from top polluters like the U.S., Russia, China, India, and Brazil. These wealthy nations must help rebuild what their emissions helped destroy.

Stand with the Caribbean. Demand climate justice and accountability. Sign the petition now to Support urgent aid and debt relief.
