Iowa is facing a health disaster, with pesticide use leading to an alarming rise in cancer rates. The state’s cancer rate is the second-highest in the U.S., and it continues to grow. Despite officials blaming alcohol, residents are pointing to the widespread use of harmful pesticides like glyphosate, commonly used in farming. Nearly 87% of Iowa’s land is used for agriculture, and these chemicals are poisoning the air, food, and water, causing severe health issues for children and adults.

Glyphosate, classified as probably carcinogenic by the WHO in 2015, and other toxic chemicals are wreaking havoc on public health. Fertilizers are also adding to the crisis, contaminating water with nitrates and dangerous “forever chemicals” (PFAs). Yet, the farming industry refuses to acknowledge the devastating impact.

We need to take action now. Sign the petition to demand Iowa lawmakers ban pesticide use and protect the health of residents. This must be stopped before more lives are lost to preventable diseases.
