The Trump administration’s recent changes to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) guidelines could allow healthcare providers to discriminate against veterans based on marital status or political affiliations. Under the new rules, doctors, therapists, and social workers are no longer prohibited from denying care to veterans who are unmarried, divorced, or part of a union, or even those affiliated with the Democratic Party.

This is a gross violation of veterans’ rights and could lead to discrimination on various grounds, including past drug use or sexual assault history. The VA’s integrated healthcare system, the largest in the U.S., serves over 9 million patients across 170 hospitals and 1,000 clinics. The previous protections were vital to ensuring fair, non-discriminatory treatment for all veterans.

It’s time to take a stand. Veterans who fought for the country deserve better care, not to be denied service based on personal beliefs.

Sign the petition now to demand Secretary of Veterans Affairs Douglas A. Collins reverse these changes.
