Across the U.S., families—often in low-income communities—are being exposed to toxic air from nearby factories, refineries, and petrochemical plants. Dangerous chemicals like benzene, formaldehyde, and vinyl chloride are polluting the air, causing long-term damage to people’s lungs, brains, and reproductive systems.
According to research from Johns Hopkins University, the risks are staggering—and the system that allows industrial zones to encroach on neighbourhoods is failing. Vulnerable populations are breathing in this toxic mix daily, with little protection in place.
We urgently need the EPA to establish mandatory buffer zones between heavy industry and residential areas. These zones would provide a critical line of defence against the unchecked spread of industrial air Pollution.
Enough is enough. We can’t let industry profits come before public health. Sign the petition now to demand buffer zones. Sign the petition now to protect clean air and human life.
