A humpback whale recently vanished after becoming entangled in a fishing drum line off the coast of Australia. Experts have been unable to track the whale since June 15, leaving its fate uncertain. This heartbreaking event highlights the dangers of drum lines, which are often used in an attempt to control sharks but pose a significant threat to marine life, including whales.

Drum lines and other fishing gear can trap and harm whales, often fatally. With populations of humpback whales already recovering from near extinction, we cannot afford to add more risks to their survival. These majestic creatures now number around 30,000–50,000 in the wild, but their safety is far from guaranteed.

Sign the petition today to demand the Australian government ban the use of drum lines and protect all marine life from unnecessary harm.
