Stealing animals is a very real issue. Dogs, mainly purebreds, are usually the targets of these kidnappings. Stolen dogs are usually sold to the dog meat trade. To think that someone out there would snatch another person’s pet is devastating. Pets are a part of the family, and their disappearance is terrifying and stressful for the entire family. Although putting up flyers and contacting the police can help, it can be hard not to lose hope.

Thankfully, this isn’t the case of 18-month-old golden retriever, Atlas who was reunited with his human, Taylor Galt on March 13 in Canada. The heartwarming reunion included belly rubs and lots of love. It’s clear they missed each other. Atlas was taken from the family’s backyard and was missing for four nights before he was returned. His dognapping was caught on the neighbor’s surveillance camera. Although Galt has an idea of who took Atlas, he declined to name them.

The family set a $5,000 ransom for Atlas, but paid those who had a vital role in rescuing Atlas. Galt states: “There were three people who were instrumental in recovery of Atlas, who will be getting the reward. Without their help, and the Kelowna Police I’m not sure when we would get Atlas back home.” Their emotional reunion is sure to brighten your day.
