Pennsylvania firefighters rushed to ‘save’ a dog that was on a roof, only to find out he climbed up on purpose and goes there often to sunbathe. Dogs need to be rescued from roofs all of the time, but this Pennsylvania pup was the exception.

A worried local saw a black and white dog high up on the roof of an apartment building in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, and called for help. When firefighters arrived, they found the dog calmly sitting on the roof with a third-floor balcony door open behind them. They figured the dog had used the balcony door to get up onto the roof, but they were unsure if he did it on purpose or by accident.

After speaking with a resident of the building, they discovered that this was indeed a normal occurrence. According to SWNS, a neighbor said that the dog lives in the building and often goes to the roof to sunbathe.

“We were called to an apartment block on Laurel Street to rescue a dog who was stranded on the roof,” a spokesperson from Hazelton Fire Department told SWNS about the incident. “When we arrived, it became clear the dog did not need rescuing, and we were told that he ‘does it all the time.’ ”

“We were unable to make contact with the dog’s owner, but the dog came down and went into the apartment while we were at the scene,” the fire department added.

No rescuing was needed this time, but the locals still did the right thing by calling for help.
