Cher Writes Open Letter Requesting Release of Sad Caged Gorilla in Bangkok Mall

After saving Kaavan, “the world’s loneliest elephant,” Cher has set her sights on saving another animal. Bua Noi, a gorilla, has spent almost all of her life in a cage in a Bangkok shopping mall.

A resident at Pata Zoo, Bua Noi has been in the cage at the zoo since 1988. Pata Zoo has been criticized by animal activists. Cher has written an open letter to the Thai Minister of Natural Resources Varawut Silpa-Archa requesting to transfer Bua Noi from her home.

“Such transfer would have significant welfare benefits and sends a powerful message about protecting and Conservation. We sincerely request your Support in preventing the future granting of permits or licenses to keep Buanoi in her current situation and assist with granting the release of Buanoi and the other suffering primates,” she said in her letter.

Cher also asked for help from citizens of Bangkok in releasing Bua Noi.

The owner of the Pata Zoo did not comment.
