When @msniqueen‘s mom woke her up saying that she saw a kitten in the garden, she got up and went out to find a tiny black and white kitten in a shoe box. The kitten was scared and timid and did not want the girl to come near her. @msniqueen wanted to calm the kitten down, so she gave her some food. Eventually, the mother cat came back for the kitten. Not knowing what to do, Nikki asked her fellow TikTokers what she should do. The mother looked like she might need medical attention as well.

She went to the pet store to get kitten and cat food to feed them. But when she came back, the kitten was nowhere to be found.

“We think she hid the baby in a safe place because she sees our big dog as a threat,” the TikTok video text read. “We hope that she trusts us again and she’ll bring her baby to us.”

Just a day later, in an update video, Nikki told her followers that she woke up to the sound of the mother cat fighting with another cat. Finally, when the mama cat came down later, they fed her again. Unfortunately, the kitten was still nowhere to be found. The mama cat’s eyes were irritated and had a lot of gunk in them. They tried to help her by giving her eye drops. She finally started to trust her rescuers and even let them pet her.

In an update video, Nikki clarifies that she is in the Philippines, where there are little to no shelters compared to other countries therefore, she was not able to take the cats to a shelter. She still had not seen the kitten, but the mother cat occasionally came back to be fed. She plans on taking her to the vet, but she said that she is a student and does not have the means to pay for the bills. Many followers tried to give her money through money services but unfortunately, they are unavailable in her country.

She assured her followers that she is caring for the mother cat and doing everything she can to help her get better.

Nikki still looks after the mama cat, who she named Mallory. She showed her followers what a day in the life of caring and looking after Mallory looks like.

According to national estimates, approximately 6.3 million companion animals are abandoned and enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. In the US alone, over 5.4 million cats are killed on the side of the road. If you happen to notice a cat on the side of the road, whether or not the animal is injured, safely put on the hazard lights and pull your car completely off the road before attempting to rescue them, says the Humane Society.

Here are the full rescue tips that just may come in handy one day, and while you’re at it, sign this petition to demand all states make all animal abuse a felony now!
