‘Never Have I Ever’ star, Richa Moorjani, in collaboration with Animal Equality, is now shining a spotlight on the lesser-known truths of the dairy sector.

The renowned actress and Animal rights activist has long been a vocal critic of the industry’s practices. Moorjani, who adopted veganism several years ago, became actively involved after witnessing the extent of cruelty and exploitation suffered by animals in dairy farming.

“I watched a documentary about the dairy industry, and it changed my life. I was enlightened to the unimaginable cruelty and horrific living conditions animals are subjected to,” shared Moorjani. This was not an isolated incident, but a systemic issue prevalent across the industry.

Animal Equality’s recent investigation exposed the shocking truths that linger behind the happy images of contented cows. The footage revealed cows and buffaloes, like humans, only produce milk after giving birth. Yet, a few hours later, their calves are forcibly taken away to ensure maximum milk production.

Moorjani narrates the disturbing practices employed to maintain milk production. She describes, “Farm workers stuff calf carcasses with hay, tricking the mothers into believing they need to continue nursing.”

The investigation also disclosed the use of oxytocin, a hormone stimulating milk production, despite its ban in 2018 under India’s Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. In a shocking revelation, the hormone is still legal in the US, even on “organic” farms.

Moorjani, bearing witness to the shocking practices, implores viewers not to turn a blind eye to the cruelty suffered by animals in the name of dairy production. “This investigation is a glimpse into the larger reality where millions of animals suffer for dairy worldwide.”

The actress concludes, “There is no humane way to forcibly impregnate a cow, separate her from her baby, and then send her for slaughter after repeated cycles of abuse.”

Animal Equality’s President, Sharon Núñez, agrees, “It is more critical than ever that consumers are aware of who exactly is behind dairy products and make responsible choices that protect animals.”

In this alarming revelation, Richa Moorjani invites us all to reconsider our choices, to expose the cruel reality behind every glass of milk, and demand justice for these innocent animals.

This impactful collaboration between Moorjani and Animal Equality underscores the power of awareness and action, inspiring us to look beyond the glass and truly perceive the source of our milk.
