Petition: Queensland Must Stop the Shooting of Flying Foxes Now

Flying foxes are large bats native to Australia and vital to the ecosystem. They pollinate plants, spread seeds, and regulate insects. Queensland allegedly reversed plans to ban shooting these animals after farmers lobbied the government, abandoning a protection policy set for July 2026. These creatures are already listed as vulnerable or critically endangered. Please take a moment to sign the petition and demand Queensland restore its ban on shooting flying foxes.

Farmers have humane alternatives. Wildlife friendly netting has proven effective across Australia, making lethal methods unnecessary. Shooting also creates serious safety risks as gunmen firing at night could allegedly mistake a pet or even a person for their target. Nonlethal solutions protect both crops and communities. Add your name to the petition today and urge Queensland to protect flying foxes before more are lost forever.
