Tens of thousands of bats are allegedly being killed each year by wind turbines across Australia — but there’s a straightforward solution. By slightly increasing the minimum wind speed at which turbines start turning, we could dramatically reduce bat deaths. This method is already being used in parts of Europe, where it’s proven to be effective.
In Victoria alone, up to 50,000 bats die each year. These vital animals pollinate plants, eat crop-destroying insects, and are essential to biodiversity. Killing them off while trying to fight Climate change is not just ironic — it’s unnecessary.
Australia needs to upgrade outdated turbine standards and adopt this proven, bat-friendly solution. Our shift to clean energy must also protect our wildlife.
Sign the petition now to demand Australian lawmakers mandate higher turbine start speeds. Bats — and the planet — depend on it.
