Missing Cat Found 11 Years Later Thanks to a Microchip

This poor cat was missing for eleven years until he was finally rescued from the streets and reunited with his family, all thanks to a microchip.

The cat, Marauding moggy Ziggy, went missing in 2011 when he was just one year old. His family searched for him but was not able to find him. That is until she saw pictures of him posted on Facebook. A vet conducted a check on his microchip and confirmed it was their long-lost four-legged friend!

The cat’s human, Ruth, said that she thought the cat was living as a stray and being fed by homes around the neighborhood. While he was missing, they had put posters around the town and put food out at night, but they never saw their kitty. When he was found, he was just a 20-minute walk from where he originally went missing.

“He’d been there a few days so was fed and a video was posted a video on a Facebook Royston reporting page and a lady from a rescue group came out to pick him up and had his microchip scanned. This resulted in the call to us,” Ruth said.

He came back to his family in great shape and hadn’t changed much at all.

“He still loves a cuddle,” Ruth said.

There are so many strays in the United States. In the US alone, over 5.4 million cats are killed on the side of the road. If you happen to notice a cat on the side of the road, whether or not the animal is injured, safely put on the hazard lights and pull your car completely off the road before attempting to rescue them, says the Humane Society.
