A 23-year-old man from Atlantic City, Jahlil McNeal, faces multiple charges of animal cruelty following allegations of abandoning dogs at the Humane Society of Atlantic County. Surveillance footage reportedly captured McNeal tossing dogs over the shelter’s fence on two separate occasions.

One of the incidents occurred on July 15, around 2 a.m., when a pit bull mix, later named Brenda by shelter staff, was thrown over the fence. The video shows the dog landing roughly and rolling onto her side. Brenda was noted to have scars on her back, which staff believe could be from an old burn injury.

Investigations revealed a similar incident from April, in which three more pit bull mixes were abandoned in the same manner. With assistance from the community, authorities identified McNeal as the person in the videos. He was arrested during a traffic stop in August.

In addition to multiple counts of animal cruelty, McNeal faces charges for failing to provide veterinary care to Brenda, witness tampering, and theft of services.
