Amazing Man Asks to Adopt Dog Who Needs a Home the Most

Man hugging dog

One man changed a shelter dog’s life in the most heartwarming way. When a dog named Jake was found by the side of the road, tied to a pole, covered in scratches, and alone, he weighed only 37 pounds. The emaciated dog was rushed to the vet by a Good Samaritan who discovered him. He was then brought to the Angels for Animals shelter in Canfield, Ohio. There, Jake slowly recovered and began to grow in confidence. However, Jake struggled to be adopted.

Despite the rescue’s best efforts, no one showed interest in Jake. In his time at the shelter, he did not have a single meet and greet. However, one amazing man changed Jake’s life.

When Jarrod Kish walked into Angels for Animals, he did something truly wonderful. He asked the staff if he could adopt the dog who was most in need of a home. Immediately, the staff thought of Jake.

Jake won Jarrod over instantly by bringing him a toy. The very next day, Jake was able to go home with his new person. Now, he gets to live the life he deserves. Jake’s new human takes him on lots of walks in the park, buys him toys, and the lucky dog even gets to have his first doggy ice cream cone.

A follow-up post shows Jake back at the animal shelter to visit his friends. He and his new family brought along donations for the rescue that took such good care of him for so long. There are also pictures that show Jake enjoying his wonderful new life.

Jake’s story reminds us how important adoption is. Each year, roughly 6.3 million companion animals enter shelters in the United States alone. Of all the animals who enter shelters, only an estimated 4.1 million are adopted. Although some of the remaining 2.2 million are strays who are reunited with their owners, roughly 920,000 companion animals are euthanized in the United States each year. This heartbreaking statistic shows the importance of always remembering to consider adoption when adding a new animal companion to your family.
