Meet Fig! He was born on a fur farm and bred for his coat, and kept in a small cramped cage since he was born. However, Fig was one of the lucky ones and was rescued before he could be exploited for his beautiful fluffy coat. Foxes, minks, chinchillas, and other plush animals have been bred for their fur for over a hundred years and are deprived of the ability to engage in natural behavior.

Since arriving at his new home, Fig has acclimated surprisingly fast and is becoming more comfortable around humans. Now that he is being given the proper care he deserves, he can enjoy enriching activities like playing with toys for the first time and spending quality time with his new brothers and sisters, who were also rescued from a fur farm.
“Fig is the sweetest fox that has ever graced this planet. He leans into every single one of my hugs, melting as I kiss his head. He always is the first to come comfort me if I’m feeling down, and licks away tears on my face,” said his rescuers.

Animals on fur farms live in terrible conditions. Even with welfare certifications, there are no ethical or humane fur farms. Finland is the biggest fur producer in Europe and has exported over £11 million worth of fur to the UK, despite its ban on the production of fur. The fur trade must be stopped, and these farms need to be closed permanently.
Besides being cruel, fur farms also pose a serious risk to human health and have been linked to the spread of COVID-19, says the humane society. There are many humane faux fur options on the market, and it is unacceptable to be killing these innocent creatures in the name of fashion.
