Neglected Dog Who Was a Walking Skeleton Is Thriving Thanks to Her Incredible Foster Home

Dogs have been “man’s best friend” for centuries. They provide us with unconditional love and support and even a few laughs along the way too. We shower them with toys, treats, and would do anything to ensure their well-being. But unfortunately, not everyone sees dogs as the awesome animals that they are. SCAR (Southern Cross Animal Rescue) located in Laurel, Mississippi knows this all too well. While SCAR has seen hundreds of animals come and go, they were recently faced with a particularly gut-wrenching situation.

SCAR rescued a severely emaciated dog named Lana. Unbelievably, Lana only weighed 32 pounds. That’s about 32 pounds underweight.

Despite being terribly tight on funds, SCAR couldn’t say no to Lana’s case. The dog was eating pine cones and straw in an attempt to survive and was suffering from many parasites. She couldn’t hold down food or even water, but SCAR refused to give up. 

SCAR ordered x-rays, blood tests, vaccinations, deworming, heartworm testing, and much to ensure Lana’s recovery. 

SCAR’s determination paid off tenfold. Now, Lana is in a loving foster home with one of the rescue group’s dedicated rehabilitators. She is receiving care, attention, and is even learning a few new tricks! Check out the below video to see this sweet girl give her foster high-fives!
