Guava Barbecue Sauce [Vegan]

  • 1/2 cup of guava paste
  • 1 cup of crushed tomato
  • 1/2 onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce


  1. Cut the onion and garlic very fine. Heat a pot with oil and lightly fry until the onion is translucent. Add the soy sauce, the vinegar and the crushed tomato, cook for several minutes while stirring.
  2. Incorporate the guava paste by mixing it with a fork. Cook the sauce over medium-low heat for 15 minutes until the guava paste melts and a fully combined mixture remains. You can add a little water if the texture seems too thick.
  3. Keep the guava barbecue sauce in a closed glass jar in the fridge.
