How to Prepare Greek Gyros with Tzatziki [Vegan]

For the Gyros ‘Meat’:

  1. Add the mince, water and stock to a saucepan, stir until thoroughly combined, then put on a low heat (mine was on 2 out of 6) on the hob for 15 minutes – make sure you stir regularly so it doesn’t stick
  2. After 15 minutes, transfer to a bowl and add all the seasonings (mix together separately before adding) and leave for 5 minutes to ‘infuse’
  3. Then, fry for about 5-10 minutes until the mince has crisped

For the Tzatziki:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl – nice and simple!

For the Flatbread:

  1. Add all the ingredients in a bowl and mix/knead until a dough forms
  2. Then, split the dough into 4 balls
  3. On a floured surface, roll out the dough until about 1cm thick
  4. Heat up a little oil in a griddle pan, then fry the dough for about 3 minutes each side until golden

For the Assembly:

  1. Pack the flatbread full of ‘meat’ and tzatziki
  2. When I have visited Greece in the past I have seen that they also added fries and salad – which also tastes delicious as this is what I did with mine
  3. Then wrap it all up and enjoy!
