Golden Battered Okra Fritters [Vegan, Gluten-Free]

  • 14-ounces okra
  • 3/4 cup vegetable milk
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika or chili
  • 1 teaspoon salt


  1. Wash the okra well.
  2. In a bowl, mix all the other ingredients until you have a thick batter.
  3. Heat a large amount of oil in a frying pan.
  4. Meanwhile, submerge each okra in the batter.
  5. Fry them until they're golden and then take them out of the oil.
  6. Remove the excess oil with the paper towels.


For less oil, you can also bake your okra.
