These healthy, raw chocolate squares are perfect for a special occasion since they come together so quick and easy. That doesn't mean that you need a particular reason to make them though. Hey, celebrating the days that end in 'y' is good enough, right?

Ingredients You Need for Double Chocolate Squares [Vegan, Raw, Gluten-Free]

For the Base:
  • 1/4 cup raw walnuts
  • 1 1/2 cups pitted dates
  • 2 tbsp ground flax
  • 3 tbsp raw cacao powder
For the Chocolate:
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp cacao
  • 2 tbsp raw agave nectar (or other raw liquid sweetener of choice)
  • 2 tbsp water kefir
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp ground flax
  • 1/3 cup + 1/8 cup coconut flour

How to Prepare Double Chocolate Squares [Vegan, Raw, Gluten-Free]

For the Base:
  1. Put all ingredients in a food processor and pulse gently before turning to high speed and processing until a sticky dough ball forms.
  2. Press into a rectangular loaf pan and place in the fridge to harden.
For the Chocolate Layer:
  1. In a small saucepan, add coconut oil and honey and melt over medium heat. Add vanilla, almond milk and cacao and stir until all ingredients are warm and cacao has dissolved.
  2. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, stir together flax and coconut flour.
  3. Add water kefir and stir until absorbed.
  4. Add chocolate mixture to coconut flour mixture and stir together until a sticky dough forms.
  5. Spread the chocolate dough over the date base and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
  6. Remove from fridge and cut into squares to serve.
  7. Store any leftovers in a covered container in the fridge.
