  • 3 large apples
  • 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons arrowroot
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg optional

Preparation

  1. Slice apples, sprinkle with the lemon juice and set aside
  2. Add water and arrowroot in a saucepan and whisk then add sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg (optional)
  3. Whisk until well combined
  4. Now add the sliced apples in the saucepan and simmer on low heat until apples are soft and tender
  5. Allow to cool before using in recipe or store in an air tight jar
