This spicy pickled garlic food trend started out with a TikTok user by the name of Lala, who goes by the handle @lalaleluu. Lala is from Hamburg, Germany, and went viral after sharing her garlic recipe. She explains that there are four essential ingredients that you need in order to make this garlic in a jar recipe. You need, natural pickled garlic (without any additives or oil) Sriracha sauce, gochugaru (Korean chili pepper), and thyme. Lala’s creation was inspired by the kimchi that her Korean neighbor used to make for her.
You may be worried about the strong smell of garlic, but don’t worry. Since the garlic is pickled, it won’t be as strong as you might expect. People love this recipe for its simplicity. You only need a handful of ingredients and it can be easily made in under 5 minutes and brought with you on the go!
While garlic is often used as a flavor for cooking, it actually has so many health benefits. It is a very strong antioxidant, a good source of enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. It can even help boost immunity! Plus, some studies have found that pickled garlic can help to lower the risk of certain types of cancer and benefit the heart. Gochugaru has important vitamins and minerals, such as iron and copper. It can also help lower cholesterol. Sriracha has also been found to be beneficial for heart health due to the capsaicin in it.
