When I went vegan, I did so purely for ethical reasons. I didn’t have the most balanced approach – bread and hummus were my go-to’s. I began feeling worse than I had before going vegan and figured I just needed to change the ratio to more fresh fruits and veggies and less processed foods. That helped a bit, but every time I ate bread, pasta, or another gluten-containing product, I felt terrible. After visiting multiple doctors, a nutritionist, and every celiac help site I could find, I knew what I had to do. After a few years of living gluten-free went by, I felt much better. Still, there were times I would ‘get glutened’ by seemingly innocent products. Finally, I decided to try being a raw vegan in order to simplify the ingredients I was putting into my body.

Now, on the other side of all of that experimentation, I’ve gained a bit of snacking wisdom. First of all, it’s important to keep in mind that everyone benefits from a raw diet differently – don’t feel like you need to jump in 100% at first. Working in raw foods at any pace can help your overall health. Secondly, making meals as a raw, gluten-free vegan is fairly straightforward, but finding pre-made snacks can be a bit more challenging. Here are ten of my top pre-made snack options for when you’re out and about.

Raw Food Central Curt’s Classic Flax Crackers

These little guys are the perfect companion for some sliced avocado. Simple ingredients (literally just flax, onion, seasoning, and salt) make for some tasty, hearty snacking. Available on Amazon for $6.64, Curt’s Classic Flax Crackers are yummy no matter how you eat them.

Reviewer M-Gpie rated these crackers 5 stars, saying, “All I can say is YUM! These are the best flax crackers I’ve ever tasted. The texture is light, not dense like most flax crackers. I can’t get enough.”

VIVOO Energy Fruit Bite With Reishi

VIVOO Energy Fruit Bites are tasty, and they’re a really convenient way to sneak some reishi into your diet. Reishi is beneficial for several reasons, reishi mushrooms have anti-inflammatory properties and are believed to help fight cancer. Why not have some chocolate, fruit, and reishi together in one power snack?

Brad’s Raw Kale – Vampire Killer

If you love garlic, these kale snacks are for you! Made with entirely organic produce including chickpea miso and sunflower seeds, Brad’s Crunchy Kale is hard to put down. Just don’t eat them right before a job interview – you’ve been warned!

Hail Merry Merry Bites Macaroons

Every now and then, a sweet treat can make your day a little brighter. Hail Merry macaroons (available in cookie dough, chocolate, vanilla, and caramel sea salt) are worth the indulgence. You can get a variety pack on Amazon for $25.99 to try out all the flavors at once.

As reviewer A. M. Dewitt says, “These macaroons are delicious! Warning, though, you may eat the entire bag in one sitting.”

Ello Raw Superfood Snack Bites

Ello Raw Superfood Snack Bites pack tons of flavor into tiny treats. Simple ingredients make these bites the perfect pre or post workout snack, not to mention the bag can be resealed so you can bring them with you in the car. Try out a 4-pack for $14.99!

An Amazon reviewer wrote, “[I] was super impressed with how great this tasted. Love how simple the ingredients are. I can read each one and no added sugar which is huge for me. I feel like too many companies sneak that in. So, good job Ello Raw. I will definitely keep buying this.”

Lydia’s Organic Almond Nori Crackers

Pack a handful of these crackers and some veggie sticks for a quick, healthy raw snack. Lydia’s products are made in small batches to guarantee freshness, and it pays off. For $13.95, Lydia’s Almond Nori Crackers can be a staple in your pantry.

Raw Rev Chocolate Coconut Bliss Bars

Need the perfect snack to take hiking? Look no further than Raw Rev. Founded by a nurse passionate about vegan nutrition, Raw Rev provides tasty and convenient raw, vegan, gluten-free snacks of all kinds. These Chocolate Coconut Bliss bars are pretty special, though – try out a 12-pack for $21.99!

But luckily when I tried these bars the day they arrived, I was shocked at how good they tasted. They were like a very soft brownie that were filled with healthy ingredients.”

Natierra Nature’s Freeze-Dried Raspberries

Natierra’s freeze-dried raspberries are easy to pack, GMO-free, and deliciously sweet. They may just be the perfect snack for that mid-day slump! To top it all off, these berries are organic. Try out a bag for $5.29 and just try putting them down.

Here’s a pro-tip from reviewer Deb1987: “These are delicious. They are somewhat tart, which is how I like my raspberries. The bag is full with unbroken berries, not too many crumbles in the bottom of the bag.”
