Fans of pizza in the UK, you just hit the proverbial jackpot, because the arguably most ubiquitous place to order a slice at — Pizza Hut — has just announced that it is preparing to trial vegan cheese at five of its UK locations starting this October. Oh, and it won’t be using just any old vegan cheese for its toppings. Pizza Hut is going all in and using Violife, a total behemoth in the vegan cheese game!
“We can confirm that trials for a vegan cheese pizza are set to start in October,” a Pizza Hut representative told Plant Based News. “Pop down to our stores in Bluewater, Canterbury, Chatham, Crawley and Thanet to give it a go!”
We’re ecstatic to hear the great news, and also crossing our fingers that Pizza Hut locations in the states will catch on soon and begin offering delicious vegan cheesy goodness ASAP (although ordering a plant-based pizza at the Hut is actually doable — check out how here). Until that time, however, we’re just going to have to rely on our Food Monster App and get a little creative in our own kitchens to make the plant-based pizza of our dreams.
While we here in America wait patiently for Violife-topped Pizza Hut to make its merry way over to us, we’re going to be eating as much homemade pizza as possible.

This pizza is dairy-free and grain-free. Make this awesome pizza, put it on a plate, and set it on the table in front of people who are watching TV in the living room. Come back in a few minutes and it’ll be gone. Smiles all around. You’ve got to try this paleo Margherita pizza — it’s delicious, healthy, crispy, gooey, and everything a pizza should be. And don’t be afraid to customize it any way you like.

This vegan cheeseburger pizza combines the best of both junk foods! Ground beef made from textured vegetable protein is generously sprinkled over a ketchup and vegan mayonnaise-based sauce. Top it all off with your favorite vegan cheese sauce, tomato, onions, and pickles. Sounds a bit bizarre, but tastes delicious!

This is not your run of the mill white pizza. It’s covered in a creamy, garlicky, vegan cream cheese sauce and then topped with potatoes, habaneros, and red onion. This recipe will definitely become one of your favorites after the first bite.
If you’re in the United States, make sure to check out this Pizza Guide and visit a location near you that serves up plant-based pizza. Also, make sure you check out this recipe for Homemade Pizza Crust — everyone needs a great recipe up their sleeve!
We also highly recommend downloading our Food Monster App, which is available for both Android and iPhone, and can also be found on Instagram and Facebook. The app has more than 8,000 plant-based, allergy-friendly recipes, and subscribers gain access to ten new recipes per day. Check it out!
