Omakaseed at Plant Bar is a plant-based omakase dining experience in New York City’s NoMad neighborhood. The restaurant brings global flavors with fresh plant-based ingredients to visitors. The service is Japanese-inspired and features an eight-seat sushi bar with five seatings per night and an omakase menu made by the Chef who bases the menu on fresh and seasonal ingredients.

The experience is a collaboration between vegan eatery Plant Bar, hospitality group SimpleVenue, and Vegan Warrior Project, an organization that helps maximize kitchen capacity in restaurants by connecting them to plant-based deliveries.

“I am so proud of the collaboration with SimpleVenue to create Omakaseed,” Ross Glick, co-founder of Vegan Warrior Project, told One Green Planet. “The food and experience is seductively tasty and unique. It’s a truly special and communal meal that leaves our guests with good vibes only. My favorite moments are watching traditional sushi (fish) eaters and hardcore non-vegans light up with ecstasy as they devour every bite and then comment that they can’t believe it’s vegan #transformation.”

The menu is inspired by global and Japanese cuisine, and guests can expect to see a variety of Nigiri along with Miso Soup, Potato Matcha Soup, Sunomo Style Pulled Oyster Mushroom Salad, Watermelon Tuna with Pickled Kelp, and more! Guests can also order from a range of cocktails with quirky names featuring fresh fruits and vegetables, including, Feel the Beet, Practice What you Peach, Who’s Your Edamame, Green Goddess and Mint to Be.

“Each omakase course will incorporate eclectic global flavors,” said Chef Jorge Pineda, Chef at Omakaseed and Executive Chef at the Vegan Warrior Project. “Our menu is carefully curated week by week based on what’s seasonally available and at its peak flavor profile, giving our guests a dining experience that uncovers the complexities of each vegan sushi course, completely transforming the vegan sushi concept.”

The intimate omakase bar is limited to 8 seats and is priced at $65 per person to make the vegan experience accessible to a larger audience. Dinner omakase seatings are open from Wednesday to Saturday from 5:30 PM – 10:30 PM. You can find Omakaseed located in Plant Bar at 1204 Broadway, New York, NY 10001.
