Peanut Butter Popcorn Fudge

Who doesn’t love fudge? It’s creamy, has a rich texture, and a sweet taste that’s pure decadence. This experience isn’t for dairy eaters alone, as there are several ways to make 100 percent guilt-free, dairy-free fudge that packs the flavor and rich, decadent taste of the classic fudge. Try this tip sheet for making your own vegan, nutty fudge.

1. Gather Your Materials

First, you’ll want to grab a glass pan to put your fudge mixture in and something such as melted coconut oil to grease your pan. Be sure you’re near a refrigerator as well because after your mix is finished, it will need to chill.

2. Follow the Formula

To make vegan fudge, you will need to gather raw cacao powder, something to act as a thick base, and something to serve as a liquid sweetener. The basic ratio for a standard batch of raw, dairy-free fudge (8 by 8 square pan, 16 or so small bite-size fudge pieces) will include 1 cup of your thick base + ¼ cup cacao powder + ¼ cup liquid sweetener + 1 – 3 teaspoons moistener. Add a teaspoon at a time, until you achieve a moist, thick, cake-batter-like consistency.

3. Choose a Recipe

You can be adventurous and follow the above formula, filling in the blanks and using whatever materials you want to get a desired taste. The good news is that most any nut tastes delicious with chocolate, and you can’t go wrong with almonds and peanuts. If you want to follow a recipe, try Peanut Butter Popcorn Fudge, Healthy Avocado Vegan Fudge, and Raw Vegan Chocolate and Peanut Butter Fudge.

4. Add Nuts

Take your pick of nuts and add them to the above formula. Celebrate National Nutty Fudge Day in true flair and add two or three different kinds to your creation.

5. Mix and Cool

Mix your ingredients together, put your fudge mix into your glass pan, cover it, and freeze for at least 2 hours. Or you could refrigerate it for 3 – 4 hours.

6. Finish and Enjoy

After the cooling hours have passed, take out your fudge and make it even nuttier by placing chopped almonds, pecans, or peanuts over the top.

Invite some non-vegan friends over, don’t tell them the fudge is vegan, and see if they can tell the difference. Chances are, they’ll love the taste so much that they might not even ask. When you tell them the recipe contains zero animal products, they might even consider going vegan themselves. It really is easy to make vegan alternatives to our favorite dairy dishes with the right tools.
