What you drive says something about your values, and for those committed to living without contributing to animal harm, the options on the road are getting better by the year. The latest milestone comes from a name not typically associated with the plant-based movement: Mercedes-Benz, whose brand new all-electric C-Class can now be ordered with a fully vegan-certified interior.
According to The Vegan Society, buyers who choose the new C-Class can opt for ARTICO replica leather throughout the cabin, covering the seats, steering wheel, door trims, and center console. Every element was rigorously tested by The Vegan Society’s Vegan Trademark team to confirm no animal ingredients, animal derivatives, or animal testing were involved in its production. That kind of transparency matters deeply to consumers who want their purchasing power to reflect their principles.
This is actually the second Mercedes vehicle to earn this distinction. In 2025, the electric Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology became the first car ever to carry a Vegan Package with full Vegan Trademark certification. Seeing the brand expand that commitment to a second model signals something meaningful: this is not a one-off publicity move but a genuine shift in how a major automotive brand is approaching sustainability and animal welfare.
The C-Class itself is no compromise either. Built on 800-volt technology with a 94 kWh battery, the vehicle offers a range of up to 762 kilometres on a full charge, with up to 325 kilometres recoverable in just ten minutes of charging. Ethical choices no longer come at the cost of performance.
Mercedes is not alone in this direction. Hyundai CRADLE has been collaborating with UNCAGED Innovations to bring animal-free leather into future vehicles, and Renault has pledged to eliminate leather from its entire lineup by the close of 2025. The planet and its creatures stand to benefit as these commitments ripple across the industry. Compassionate living is no longer confined to your plate or your wardrobe. It is pulling into the driveway.
