The novel coronavirus has brought all kinds of challenges and new undertakings as we all try to navigate this “new normal.” Many businesses have changed or altered their business plans—some restaurants have added entire vegan menus amidst the pandemic, and others have transitioned their menus completely over to vegan! Check out this list of 10 restaurants who have taken the vegan jump, and maybe order a to-go or get delivery!
1. Mozzarella Fellas

Mozzarella Fellas is an Italian restaurant located in Winston-Salem NC, that has recently transitioned its menu to 100% vegan among COVID-19. The owner, Brian Ricciardi, who lives a compassionate vegan lifestyle says, “It’s what I’m passionate about, so I’m taking a leap of faith.” Diners can now expect to see delicious plant-based Chik’n Parm with breaded chik’n cutlets, almond ricotta, mozzarella, red sauce, Parmesan, and basil, along with decadent animal-free pizzas like the Margarita, Buffalo Chik’n Pizza, and much more!

2. Shoals Sound and Service

Shoals Sound and Service, a restaurant located in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, just transitioned their menu to completely plant-based this June. The new and improved vegan menu consists of delicious Latin American food, such as the Smoked BBQ Torta with applewood smoked jackfruit, a Crispy Tempeh Po’ Boy, a variety of vegan empanadas, and so much more! Shoals also is serving up delicious cocktails—all dairy-free of course!

3. AJ’s Stone Oven Pizzeria

If you are located in the Norton area of Massachusetts, you will have to check out AJ’s Stone Over Pizzeria. Although the restaurant isn’t 100% vegan, they just added an entirely vegan menu! The new plant-based options consist of; Cheesy Garlic Bread, Mac and Cheese Pizza, a vegan Buffalo Chicken Sub, and so much more.

4. Burgerlords

If you like burgers, fries, and milkshakes and are located in the LA area, check out Burgerlords, since they recently transitioned their entire menu over to vegan! Burgerlords always had an abundance of vegan options on their menu, but since going 100% animal-free, diners can expect to see some new options on the menu, like; Sourdough Garlic Melt, Buffalo Ranch Tofu Burger, the Brainburner, and milkshakes made from tahini in Original, Chocolate, Strawberry Shortcake, and Stumptown Coffee!
Burgerlords has 2 locations in the Los Angeles area; one in Chinatown at 943 N Broadway 102 Los Angeles CA 90012, and one in Highland Park at 110 N Ave 56 Los Angeles CA 90042.
5. Thaibinh’s

In Desoto, TX, right outside of Dallas, Thaibinh’s, which serves up Vietnamese cuisine, has gone completely vegan! Diners can expect to see menu items like-veggie spring rolls, vegan eggrolls, garlic tofu nuggets, and an assortment of curries and noodles, and more! The owner, Thaibinh Ho, decided to make the restaurant 100% vegan because he wanted to make a positive impact on the health of the community, especially amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

6. UnSoul Food

UnSoul Food is a black-owned all-vegan soul food restaurant that recently opened in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania! They serve plant-based Southern cuisine, and the menu consists of delicious favorites like a beyond cheesesteak, the personal Mac, a vegan seafood salad, crispy UnChick’N, a mylk shake, and so much more! They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so check them out at whatever time suits you.

7. Nirvana Tea House and Café

If you find yourself in the little town of Millis, Massachusetts, hop on over to the newly opened animal-free eatery, Nirvana Tea House and Café. The menu consists of delicious bowls, like the lentil love bowl, made with organic white rice, stewed lentils, carrot sauté, celery, cherry tomatoes, purple cabbage, golden raisins, radishes, baby spinach drizzled with coconut curry dressing. You could also try a delicious wrap, or head over in the morning for the weekend breakfast, which is served from 8 AM until 2 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

8. Neon Tiger

If you live in or plan to visit the charming city of Charleston, South Carolina, check out the newly opened veg restaurant called the Neon Tiger. The menu consists of delicious vegan items like a vegan pepperoni pizza featuring melted dairy-free mozzarella cheese and spicy seitan pepperoni, garlic knots, a barbecue jackfruit pizza, and more! The current menu offered is just a small sample of what the future offerings will include, so stay tuned for more!

9. Baia

If you’re located in the San Francisco area, check out the new vegan restaurant, Baia, which chef Matthew Kenney opened. The menu features delicious all-vegan Italian dishes, like, lasagna, margarita pizza, pappardelle pasta, mozzarella sticks, and so much more. If you love Italian food, this place is definitely for you!

10. Uncooked

In early July, Uncooked—a zero-waste, plant-based eatery— opened its doors to diners. The new restaurant is black-owned, woman-owned, and family-owned! They are a grab and go restaurants offering rock and vegan food made from whole, plant-based ingredients. They are open for breakfast lunch, and dinner, and even offer delivery. Menu items consist of delicious cakes, like the blueberry lavender cake, sushi, raw ravioli, sesame noodles, smoothies, smoothie bowls, and so much more!
