Lilica is an example of the miracles that can come from saving just one animal’s life. She was abandoned at a junkyard where Neire lived. Neire took her in, even though she already had so many animals to care for. Later, Lilica had eight puppies of her own. Times were tight, and eight more little mouths made feeding everyone just a little harder. So, Lilica took it upon herself to find the solution. She went out foraging for food.

That was when Lilica met Lucia. Lucia lives on the opposite side of town, a four mile walk from Lilica’s junkyard home. But the two became fast friends. Lucia would leave food out for Lilica every night, and to her surprise, Lilica would stop herself from eating all of it at once, even though she was clearly hungry. Lilica would try to carry the food back home, but she would spill most of it on the way. So, Lucia now ties the bag closed for Lilica before she heads home, so that more food reaches her loved ones back at the junkyard.
