Summer is coming. Whether you’re ready to soak in the summer sun or preparing yourself to face the longer days with sun-blocking parasols and floppy hats, you’ve got to admit — you’re looking forward to summer food. We’re not talking about just the seasonal fruits and veggies like watermelon, cucumber, and maybe the occasional lychee or rambutan (both weird, but refreshing and delicious), we also mean dessert.
Well, really, if we’re being honest, we’re always thinking about dessert. Especially ice cream. Seriously, feeling like it’s finally reasonable to go out and get ice cream might just be our favorite thing about summer.
In the past, vegan options for ice cream were severely limited to brands like Tofutti (no shade – we love Cuties). But today, things are looking a little different. Vegan ice cream options are so plentiful that browsing the ice cream freezer in the grocery store is now a test of our decision-making skills — and even our favorite brands that we grew up with like Breyers and Ben & Jerry’s are tempting us with dairy-free ice cream deliciousness. But really, the next time we go to the grocery store, we know what we’re going to be looking for because So Delicious just released two new ice cream bars made from creamy cashew milk.
The two flavors are Double Chocolate Delight and Dipped Salted Caramel. Alisa Fleming, founder of website GoDairyFree describes Double Chocolate Delight as “sweet caramel notes dancing with a mellow cocoa powder” and raves about Dipped Salted Caramel’s “thick, sweet, creamy, and perfectly salted caramel ice cream center enrobed in a generous layer of sweet dark chocolate.” These words are going to be echoing in our minds until we try these.
We love that store-bought vegan ice cream options are so plentiful now, making your own vegan ice cream at home is fun, too! We highly recommend checking out the Food Monster App, which is available for both Android and iPhone. With over 8,000 vegan recipes (and over 10 new recipes added daily), you’re going to find something you love!

My only problem with these products is the packaging. I have found the bars individually wrapped in a plastic product. This seems to be the case with most vegan/vegetarian products. Hopefully, they will consider the environmental impact of their packaging and make more appropriate choices.
Looks great! I just wish some brand would some sweet treats that are both delicious and reasonably healthy (i.e. not loaded with refined sugars). Had one piece of Turkish delight from a vegan festival yesterday and nearly felt like a toothache was coming on, aside from just generally feeling disgusting shortly thereafter.
