Pixie the calf had an incredible life. She was born into the dairy industry, a place where many cattle never have a chance at freedom. But for Pixie, her chances at survival were even lower; the little calf was born disabled. Unable to stand on her front legs, Pixie would have been killed, under normal circumstances. However, Pixie touched the heart of the dairy farmer’s wife, and she was given a fighting chance at life.
Thanks to this woman’s kindness, Pixie was sent to Edgar’s Mission, an Australian farm animal sanctuary where every single life is precious. The veterinary staff were dedicated to rehabilitating the young calf to give her what all animals deserve. Their love for this disabled young cow was undying.
Although Edgar’s Mission fought every day to give Pixie the life she truly deserved, in the end, she could not win the battle against her health complications. It’s with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to this inspiring calf who taught us so much about the power of compassion and determination. This sweet calf will be buried at her sanctuary home and an oak tree, the symbol of strength and courage, will be planted at her grave in her honor.
Thank you, Edgar’s Mission, for doing every single thing that you could to help this sweet calf overcome her obstacles. Thank you, Pixie, for bringing us joy and hope that every animal, no matter what circumstances they come from, can find happiness. Rest in peace.
