Serenity has been working as a possum rehabber and advocate for the past four years and currently cares for 32 baby possums. Eliza came into her care just like all the others. Serenity got a call from someone who had found a baby who was too young to be on its own.

When Serenity first laid eyes on Eliza, she knew something wasn’t right. She didn’t look like the other possums that she had cared for. She later discovered that Eliza has dwarfism. Dwarf possums need extra care and are not usually released back into the wild, as they have a more difficult time surviving all on their own.

Serenity explained that possums with dwarfism usually only live to be six months old. Serenity decided to keep her, love her, and give her the best life possible. In the video, you can see Eliza’s big and playful personality. When she doesn’t get her way, she behaves like a human toddler and throws temper tantrums. Eliza is the most spoiled possum Serenity has ever looked after, and she loves to get her way. She can be found burrowing inside fuzzy coats and eating chips!

You can keep up with Eliza’s story on her Instagram.
