Meet Buddy, the cat sensation affectionately dubbed “busy Buddy” by his doting mom Mary Spain. Residing in Illinois alongside Mary and her husband, Buddy has recently captured the spotlight as Newsweek’s Pet of the Week, a title he wears with pride.

Adopted in 2021, Buddy is more than just your ordinary cat. Among his repertoire of antics, there’s one particular habit that never fails to amuse Mary: his fascination with toilet paper. Whether it’s unraveling it with finesse or dragging it over near the litter box, Buddy’s antics keep the Spain household in stitches. Despite attempts to provide him with his supply of toilet paper entertainment, including a dedicated box of unraveled rolls, Buddy remained unsatisfied until he was given his very own toilet paper roller, mounted above his litter box.

For Mary Spain, life with Buddy is a constant adventure. As she fondly puts it, “There’s always something new going on in his head, it’s scary.” It’s this unpredictability that makes Buddy an irreplaceable companion.
