Big Cat Rescue is a non-profit organization located in Tampa, Florida that provides a safe, lifelong home for abused and unwanted big cats. With over 100 resident animals, this group has lots of hungry mouths to feed. However, when the group heard about Teisha the tiger in need of a home, they knew that they had to make room for one more.  This video chronicles Big Cat Rescue’s long journey from Tampa, Florida to Ohio to rescue Tiesha and bring her back to her forever home.

Teisha was one of five tigers brought to The Ohio Department of Agriculture from the Paws and Claws Sanctuary, who failed to register the animals and lost the right to keep them. Although they were in good health overall, rescuing a big cat is no easy task. It is expensive and requires a number of team players, including veterinarians to make sure the animal is safe during the long journey.

Luckily, Teisha’s transport went off without a hitch, and she arrived safely at her new home. With big cats all over the world being poached into extinction, rescues like these are an important part the conservation effort.
