Foster homes offer shelter animals the chance to unwind and practice being in a home setting. Additionally, they can receive lots of love and attention from their foster families. For one dog, the transformation could not be more obvious.
After Remington arrived at the Lynchburg Humane Society in Virginia, he was scared and withdrawn. Although shelter staff tried to draw the sweet pup out of his shell, it was to no avail. They knew that they had to find a foster home for this sweet guy. Thankfully, a foster willingly stepped up.
Once in his foster home, Remington’s entire demeanor changed. The humane society shared that, even after only one day in his foster home, Remington was “a completely different dog.” His fosters discovered that not only was he a sweet and affectionate guy, but he also loves other dogs and is okay with cats too!
Remington’s story once again highlights the importance of foster homes for shelter animals. For some, it can be a night and day difference. However, according to statistics from the World Animal Foundation, only eight percent of households in the United States foster animals. Hopefully, Remington’s story will convince at least a few more to open their doors to an animal in need.
