Senior Dog Finds New Home After Family’s Hardship

A senior dog named Jade, who was surrendered to a Philadelphia shelter after her family became homeless, has found a loving foster home, thanks to the compassion of Alisyn Davidson and her fiancé. The couple, who have been fostering animals from Philly Rescue Angels for six months, were heartbroken by the 14-year-old dog’s plight and immediately decided to help.

Senior dogs like Jade face a grim reality in shelters, with only a 25% adoption rate compared to 60% for younger dogs, according to the ASPCA. The day after seeing Jade’s story, Davidson and her fiancé decided to foster her. Davidson shared Jade’s transformation in a viral TikTok video, showcasing the dog’s journey from loneliness to finding a new lease on life.

Upon taking Jade in, the couple discovered she had untreated dental issues and arthritis, which made walking difficult for her. They promptly began treatment, and Jade is now on arthritis medication. Despite the challenges, Davidson reports that Jade is settling into her new home, enjoying a comfortable bed, regular meals, and loving care.

Davidson expressed that without their intervention, Jade might have faced euthanasia due to overcrowding in the city shelter. The heartwarming TikTok video has since garnered significant attention, amassing 85,600 views, 15,800 likes, and 876 comments, highlighting the impact of their compassionate act.
