Rescuers Went to Save 2 Dogs Living in a Junkyard – Then They Got a Beautiful Surprise (PHOTOS)

Never underestimate the power of a mother’s love … whether dog or human! Recently, Baltimore City Animal Control got a call about two dogs living in an alleyway junkyard, so the team quickly set out to help the canines. The junkyard was filled with trash, piled sky high and just like the caller had said, living amongst the garage were two dogs, Goldilocks and Joe.

The animal control officers climbed through the piles of trash to restrain the dogs and bring them to safety, but Goldilocks seemed as if she was pointing towards something she wanted the officers to see…

Goldilocks frantically showed the officers where her three newborn puppies, not even two weeks old, were buried in the trash!

Goldilocks and Joe’s original guardian passed away. Even though there were people still living on the property, no one was caring for the dogs. They were surviving in the trash, trying to keep their puppies alive. The family was removed from the property and brought to the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS).

Knowing a shelter wasn’t the best place for this sweet family, BARCS reached out to the Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington, DC, who gladly took in Goldilocks and her babies. 

Goldilocks and her puppies are now in a safe, loving foster home and will be available for adoption in a few weeks. Look at that big smile! Goldilocks is a proud mama.

While this dog family has a happy ending, not all are so lucky. As BARCS states on their Facebook, many dogs face a sad reality, “Neighborhoods with more wood boards than windows, digging animals out of trash, rushing abused animals to the ER, caring for a dog that was shot and left to die under the highway…this is our reality in Baltimore, but it shouldn’t be.”

Joe is still with BARCS and is currently up for adoption.
