One look at this photo of a rescued pig and dog is sure to make you smile. Gerald and Ruby, photographed below, show us, without words that pigs and dogs are not so different. The photograph, taken by Edgar’s Mission — a non-profit organization with a farm sanctuary that, “currently provides life-long love and care to over 450 rescued animals” — intentionally or unintentionally speaks volumes about how we differently we treat animals who aren’t so different at all.
When you take a moment and closely examine the animals we eat and the animals we keep as pets, you might start to see how weird it is that we treat them so differently. Is it about taste? Would you eat a dog if they tasted good? Is it about how we were raised? Must we uphold everything we were taught as kids? Is it about intelligence? How is can you truly measure an animal’s intelligence based on our ability to understand them? There are a lot of questions that people aren’t asking and even more answers we never get.
While people dismiss pigs as food, there is proof that pigs possess equal or more intelligence than the dogs and cats we keep as pets. They also like to do many of the things our pets do, things we’re happy to do … like belly rubs, sunbathing, swimming, and searching for food. The sad truth of it all is that pigs and all farm animals are more like our beloved pets than most people would like to admit.
There are so many reasons to love pigs. Find a local farm sanctuary, meet one for yourself, and see what wonderful, loving animals they are. It will change your life.

GREAT ANIMAL FRIENDS.
I wouldn\’t eat a dog and I would not eat pig. One has no more value than the there and both are equally wonderful.
Yes. Ms. Kate. I agree with you wholeheartedly.
