Micro bats are tiny little bats that are native to Australia. Each individual bat can eat thousands of insects a day, making them an important part of their native ecosystem. Because of this, many Australians keep bat boxes around their properties to reduce the number of mosquitos there. These little animals are also helpful for pest control in organic farming.
Sadly, due to the rapid development of Australia’s natural areas, micro bats are quickly losing their habitat. As a result, these adorable little animals are being forced into urban settings. Instead of trees and wild places, bats can be found under bridges and highways – and even inside the rooftops of decaying buildings, like the bats in this video. This puts these animals at risk of injury from human conflict, and ultimately throws a cinch in the ecosystem.
But thanks to the efforts The Bat Clinic, 120 of these tiny little critters are now getting the care they need! If you would like to learn more about The Bat Clinic, you may visit their website here.
