As anyone who has ever loved a Pit Bull can tell you, they are lovable dogs. With their short and easy coats, natural athleticism, and eager to please dispositions, it is no wonder that Pit Bulls are currently the third most popular dog breed in America.
With great popularity also comes extreme greed and because of this, Pit Bulls are also among the most overbred dogs in the country. In addition, there are still a number of outdated laws in place that make keeping a Pit Bull difficult, and in some places, even illegal! Because of these things, Pit Bulls, Pit Bull mixes, and other related bully breeds are the number one dog breed being euthanized in shelters today. Statistically speaking, a healthy, full grown Pit Bull has very little chance of being adopted from a shelter. But when they do get adopted, the results look something like this.
If you’re considering adopting a four-legged friend, pay a visit to your local animal shelter. Your new best friend is waiting!
