Puppy’s Adorable Shower Routine Highlights Deep Bond with Carer

Grace, a golden retriever puppy, developed an endearing habit during her time in foster care that reveals the strong bond she formed with her caretaker, Katie Balla. Each time Balla took a shower, Grace would settle down on a mat outside the shower door, waiting patiently for her return. This charming behavior not only showcased Grace’s affection but also influenced a significant decision in Balla’s life.

Katie Balla has been fostering dogs with The Animal Pad in San Diego, California, since September 2021. She initially got involved in fostering after seeing a post on Instagram from an acquaintance. Since then, she has welcomed over 50 puppies and a few mama-dog pairs into her home. Grace came to Balla in early June, arriving in dire condition. The puppy had been bought from a disreputable breeder and was suffering from severe health issues. Her previous owners, unable to afford the necessary medical care, relinquished her to a rescue organization, which reached out to Balla for help.

The original plan was for Grace to stay with Balla for a few months while she recovered, but Grace’s condition was more serious than anticipated. She had contracted distemper, a dangerous virus for puppies. Despite the challenging months that followed, Balla’s dedicated care helped Grace slowly recover. Their shared journey through Grace’s illness deepened their bond.

Grace’s attachment to Balla was evident in the way she preferred to stay close, even during Balla’s shower time. A video Balla shared on TikTok, where Grace is seen napping outside the shower door, has garnered over 76,000 views.
